Middle Office Specialist – Asset Management Companies

About the role

Julius Baer is hiring a Middle Office Specialist for its Gestion SGIIC Operations team in Madrid. The role covers accounting, regulatory and tax reporting, portfolio valuation, audit support and other tasks related to the Discretionary Business (Sicavs, mutual funds and portfolios). It is a 100% position.

Key responsibilities

• Trade settlement and monitoring of SICAV share trading
• Treasury and cash management: cash flow, FX, repos, deposits, corporate actions
• Account opening via Bloomberg, depositories, NAV system, Allfunds and brokers, including client contracts and documentation
• Set up portfolio models (reconciliation, benchmarks, asset classification)
• Open, maintain and fund SICAV and mutual fund shareholders, and open accounts for them
• Accounting of SICAVs and funds in line with local regulations, daily asset and portfolio valuation, NAV calculation and validation
• Monitor the external administrator, depositories, brokers and mutual fund platforms
• Regulatory and tax reporting for SICAVs, mutual funds and Julius Baer Gestion
• Manage GMIS: calculation and control of revenues, assets under management and net new money
• Monthly client reporting, reconciliations (cash, holdings, provisions) and billing (calculation, accrual, processing, control)
• Coordinate corporate secretary functions (board of directors, shareholder meetings) and relations with the registry of commerce
• Support auditors on annual accounts, compliance, asset protection, AML and internal audits
• Relate to regulators (CNMV, Stock Exchange, Bank of Spain) and handle tax reclaim documentation
• Support mutual fund distribution for the Discretionary and Advisory businesses

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in middle office or operations at an asset management company (gestora) performing similar functions
• Client-focused, results-driven, with good interpersonal and communication skills
• High level of English, written and spoken

Required skills

• Knowledge of Spanish accounting, audit, regulatory and tax reporting rules for mutual funds and SICAVs (UCITS and alternative), portfolios and other investment vehicles
• Understanding of investment vehicle operations: trading, execution, settlement, cash management
• Implementation of internal policies and security standards
