IT L2 Operations Engineer

About the role

Join Volkswagen Group Services Iberia to build a brand‑new Level 2 IT Operations service for TRATON R&D digital products such as vehicle connectivity, FOTA/OTA campaigns, telematics, remote diagnostics and fleet APIs. You will work between Level 1 front‑line support and Level 3 development, taking ownership of incidents, creating runbooks and defining operational processes from scratch.

Key responsibilities

• Take over Level 1 incidents and resolve them within Level 2 scope across connectivity, FOTA/OTA, telematics and fleet APIs.
• Diagnose issues across the stack – application logs, APIs, cloud services and device‑to‑cloud communication.
• Execute, monitor and, if needed, roll back FOTA/OTA campaigns.
• Escalate to Level 3 with fully documented, reproducible cases.
• Run recurring operational tasks: monitoring, health checks, batch job supervision and interface monitoring.
• Write and maintain runbooks and work instructions for every system.
• Support major incident resolution and cover the Incident Management Coordinator seat during rotation.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in Level 2 support, application or platform operations in an SLA‑driven environment.
• Experience working in an international, distributed team.
• Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong analytical mindset, autonomous decision‑making and clear technical writing in English.

Required skills

• AWS (EC2, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, log analysis).
• Linux command line and scripting in Python or Bash.
• API troubleshooting (REST, JSON, Postman).
• SQL querying for diagnostics.
• Monitoring tools: CloudWatch, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog.
• ITSM tools: JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow.
• Technical writing of runbooks and escalation cases.
