IT Systems Engineer – Barcelona or Malta

About the role

We are seeking an IT Systems Engineer to join our growing team in Barcelona (or Malta). You will be responsible for configuring, maintaining and overseeing the company’s IT resources – from networks and servers to workstations, printers and cloud services – ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently for all users.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure and maintain desktops, peripherals, operating systems and standard/custom applications following change‑management and security best practices.
• Proactively plan, tune, troubleshoot and monitor IT infrastructure to minimise downtime and optimise performance.
• Manage user accounts, permissions and access rights across multiple platforms.
• Implement and oversee system backups, disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity processes.
• Ensure compliance with security policies, data‑privacy regulations and industry standards.
• Maintain an accurate IT asset register for hardware, software and licensing.
• Use the internal ticketing system to track, prioritise and resolve support requests.
• Collaborate with third‑party contractors to guarantee reliable operation of software and systems.
• Provide first‑line support, orientation and training to end‑users.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience administering systems, networks and cloud providers.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant IT field.
• Industry certifications such as ITIL and vendor‑specific cloud, network or hardware certifications.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS and mobile operating systems.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud provisioning, identity management and integrations.
