Jefe de Obra – Data Center Construction

About the role
The company is a leading data‑center operator in the Iberian Peninsula, looking for a Jefe de Obra to drive the end‑to‑end delivery of new data‑center sites in Spain and Portugal. You will be responsible for turning land parcels into fully operational facilities, overseeing everything from early site preparation to civil works, urbanisation, and final building hand‑over.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise early‑stage site preparation, enabling works and infrastructure readiness.
- Manage civil works, urbanisation, and building construction for data‑center projects.
- Coordinate contractors, designers, technical advisors and engineering consultants.
- Liaise with planning authorities, utilities and external stakeholders during permitting.
- Ensure compliance with local planning, permitting and construction regulations.
- Direct daily schedules for subcontractors and MEP crews.
- Oversee logistics for high‑value, long‑lead equipment such as chillers, generators and UPS systems.
- Allocate on‑site labour, materials and equipment to maximise productivity.
- Track milestones against the master construction schedule and prevent delays.
- Review field expenses, verify subcontractor invoices and manage change orders.
- Produce daily and weekly site reports for the Project Manager and stakeholders.
Required profile
- 10+ years of experience in civil works, construction delivery or infrastructure development.
- Proven track record delivering large‑scale building or urban‑development projects in Spain.
- Strong knowledge of permitting, planning processes and land‑development procedures.
- Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, including contractors and technical consultants.
- Excellent organisational and project‑management capabilities.
- Hands‑on, delivery‑focused mindset with a balance of technical and administrative skills.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Architecture or a related field.
Required skills
- Experience with chillers, generators and UPS systems.
- MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) coordination.
- Civil works and urbanisation expertise.
