Junior Software Engineer – Frontend/Backend (f/m/d)

About the role

We are looking for motivated junior software engineers to join Volkswagen Digital Hub in Spain. You will work in an agile team, collaborating with experienced engineers to build and maintain scalable digital products while developing your technical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑quality frontend and/or backend components.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs.
• Write clean, maintainable and well‑tested code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and write automated unit and integration tests.
• Work with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines and continuous improvement processes.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, UX and DevOps teams to deliver valuable software.
• Learn new technologies and use AI‑assisted development tools responsibly.

Required profile

• Solid foundation in at least one modern programming language (TypeScript/JavaScript, Python or Java).
• Understanding of software engineering principles, data structures and object‑oriented programming.
• Familiarity with TypeScript and modern web development concepts.
• Basic knowledge of React or a similar frontend framework.
• Understanding of REST APIs and client‑server communication.
• Experience with Git and collaborative workflows.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Awareness of unit and integration testing concepts.
• Good communication skills in English and a strong eagerness to learn.
