Legal Counsel

About the role

VERBUND Green Power Iberia is seeking a Legal Counsel to support the full lifecycle of its renewable energy projects in Spain. The role involves providing legal advice, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance with environmental, corporate and industry regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and oversee legal proceedings related to project development, plant operations, environmental law, M&A, and corporate matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts to protect the company’s interests across photovoltaic and wind projects.
• Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, including corporate governance and criminal compliance programs.
• Represent the company in third‑party environmental approval processes and liaise with authorities.
• Provide legal analyses and documentation to support management decision‑making and keep the business informed of relevant legal developments.
• Identify business risks, propose mitigation strategies, and support interdisciplinary teams in new power‑plant construction.

Required profile

• Law degree (LL.B., J.D. or equivalent) with a strong understanding of energy, environmental and corporate law.
• Proven experience in legal counsel or advisory roles within the renewable‑energy sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex contracts and regulatory compliance projects.
• Excellent analytical, drafting and negotiation skills.
• Fluency in English; Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
