Legal Counsel

About the role

dLocal is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide hands‑on, business‑facing legal support. The role partners closely with commercial teams and supports the wider business on a range of legal matters, focusing on payments and fintech environments.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements such as MSAs, SOWs, vendor contracts, NDAs, DPAs, novations and partnership agreements.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial deal work, delivering risk‑based advice and pragmatic alternatives.
• Create and maintain contract templates, clause libraries, playbooks and negotiation guidance to improve consistency and speed.
• Collaborate with Product, Commercial, Finance, Risk, Compliance and InfoSec on go‑to‑market initiatives, ensuring contracts reflect operational realities and regulatory requirements.
• Support data and privacy contracting, including DPAs, data transfer mechanisms and security schedules, in coordination with Privacy and Security teams.
• Embed payments/fintech regulatory considerations and coordinate with Compliance on AML, sanctions and other mandatory provisions.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in a relevant jurisdiction with 5‑7 years of experience at a law firm and/or in‑house within financial services, fintech or tech‑enabled businesses.
• Strong experience drafting and negotiating cross‑border commercial contracts in fast‑paced environments.
• Solid grounding in general commercial, contractual and compliance issues, with the ability to translate legal risk into actionable business guidance.

Required skills

• Familiarity with payments, financial services and fintech regulatory frameworks.
