Linux Systems Administrator (UNICC)

About the role

UNICC is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to join its Platform Operations Unit. The role operates, maintains and troubleshoots systems, services, configurations and core applications deployed in the unit, and works with customers and other technical teams. It is a 6-month assignment based in Valencia, Spain, or remotely in the CET time zone, with possible contract extensions depending on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot Linux systems in an enterprise-server environment
• Maintain best practices for patch management, bug fixes and operating system upgrades
• Identify areas for improvement and deploy automated processes to reduce manual intervention
• Perform root cause analysis of system errors and client issues
• Define and implement security best practices and hardening of Linux servers
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures
• Participate in planning and development of new features, forecast capacity needs, help deploy new applications and services, and optimize services

Required profile

• Minimum of 4 years of Linux systems administration, configuration and troubleshooting
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
• Experience using Red Hat Satellite or an equivalent tool to centrally manage servers
• Experience with patching, updating and bug remediation for Linux OS and third-party applications
• Bash scripting
• Willingness to work a regular on-call rotation and respond to out-of-band emergencies
