Manufacturing Quality Engineer

About the role

Lear Corporation is looking for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer in Vigo. The engineer ensures strong product and process control aligned with the Control Plan, works closely with production teams and leads the 8D problem-solving process for internal and external issues.

Key responsibilities

• Keep production control plans fully compliant and their documentation up to date throughout the program lifecycle.
• Check that measurement and test equipment, including red rabbits for Poka-Yoke validation, are used correctly, calibrated and maintained.
• Collect and analyse manufacturing process data, maintain SPC capability studies and drive continuous improvement.
• Approve and maintain quality documents such as Control Plans, Work Instructions, Boundary Samples, Appearance Books and Rework/Inspection Instructions.
• Ensure proper containment, rework and inspection of non-conforming products and lead timely disposition.
• Lead problem-solving and Fast Response activities, ensure effective use of tools and timely 8D completion, and facilitate cross-functional root-cause resolution.
• Take part in FMEA reviews and updates, and supervise Manufacturing Process Quality Inspectors/Auditors.
• Stop any process or product delivery when there is non-conformance or safety/environmental risk.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a technical field.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and understand product-specific quality requirements.
• Experience in manufacturing environments with knowledge of production and process control methods.

Required skills

• Quality and problem-solving tools: 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, SPC, Control Plans, FMEA, MSA, PPAP.
• Process capability studies and statistical process control.
