Mechanical Design Engineer – Madrid

About the role

RED, an international M&E consultancy, is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Madrid office. The role involves delivering design solutions for low‑energy building projects and supporting the full project life‑cycle from concept to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead small mechanical design projects, coordinating engineering services for mechanical and electrical installations.
• Research, develop and specify controls, instruments and operating systems for building services.
• Survey, test and report on existing installations and ensure compliance with functional specifications and client requirements.
• Prepare and modify specifications using Word or Excel and validate calculations and drawings against industry and legal standards.
• Represent RED at technical meetings with clients, professional teams and contractors.
• Support project delivery in line with RED’s Project Delivery Process, covering project management, financial management, QA/QC and technical review.

Required profile

• Degree or Master’s in Engineering (or equivalent professional experience).
• Registered with a recognised Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros and working towards Chartered Engineer status.
• Experience designing specifications and drawings for at least one building type.
• Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and BS standards.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience using IT‑based calculation and spreadsheet software.
• Familiarity with BS standards.
