Mechanical Engineer – Wind Turbine Structures

About the role

GE Vernova is looking for an early-career mechanical engineer for its Nacelle & Frames team in Barcelona. You will own the structural components of wind turbines (composites, metallic structures, cranes, seals and louvers) and work alongside senior engineers who will guide your growth. The role is hands-on: your designs directly affect turbines operating around the world.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical structural components for wind turbines, including composites, metallic structures, cranes, seals and louvers.
• Partner with System, Sub-System and Component Engineers to integrate your designs into the overall turbine architecture.
• Own the detailed engineering specifications and drawings used to source turbine components, meeting GE Vernova and industry quality standards.
• Carry out technical risk assessments and build risk mitigation plans, including DFMEA, design verification and validation test plans.
• Support the resolution of safety and functional issues on turbines already in the field.
• Apply a systems-thinking approach and bring standard design practices, tools and lessons learned into your work.

Required profile

• Early-career mechanical engineer, curious about system-level behaviour and eager to learn from experienced colleagues.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is a plus; total experience and achievements are what matter most.
• Some experience in product design and development in the wind industry or a comparable industry.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
• Preferred: familiarity with wind turbine structural components, NPI/NTI development or root cause analysis, and experience in international project teams.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of CAD tools, ideally Unigraphics NX 3D-CAD.
• Working knowledge of CAE tools, ideally Ansys, and PLM systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to coordinate across engineering teams.
