R&D Specialist - Automotive and Transport Sector

About the role

AIMPLAS is looking for an R&D Specialist to join its Automotive Laboratory, part of the Laboratories area. The role covers research projects, testing and consultancy for clients in the automotive and transport sector, and is offered on a permanent basis.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in projects as a member of research groups or as Principal Investigator
• Provide testing and consultancy services to external and internal clients in the automotive and transport sector
• Prepare and/or review technical reports of results
• Take part in internal and external audits
• Identify and propose equipment needs, searching for and selecting new equipment and accessories
• Visit relevant clients in the sector
• Take part in dissemination activities such as technical conferences, congresses and articles in sector bulletins and magazines
• Take part in training activities related to your knowledge

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field
• Demonstrable high level of English and intermediate Spanish
• Availability to travel occasionally and a valid Category B driving licence
• Experience in quality control within the automotive sector, knowledge of automotive testing procedures and laboratory practices, and knowledge of automotive quality management systems
• Experience preparing R&D&I project proposals for public funding programmes is an asset
• A Master's degree in Polymer and Composite Materials Technologies, or a Master's or PhD in plastics materials, environmental sciences, chemistry or chemical engineering, is highly valued
