Mechanical Engineering R&D - Additive Manufacturing

About the role

This role is responsible for designing, developing and validating mechanical solutions for additive manufacturing systems. It sits within the Mechanical Engineering R&D organization of the Additive Manufacturing business, contributing to complex mechanical systems across Polymer and Metal technologies, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own mechanical subsystem development from concept, design, prototyping and validation through to product release.
• Perform engineering analyses, tolerance stack-ups and design trade-off studies.
• Define, run and analyse experimental plans to validate designs and investigate technical issues.
• Drive root cause analysis and implement robust engineering solutions based on test data.
• Collaborate with WS, EE, FW, Thermals, Materials, HWQA, OPS, PPSC and CA throughout product development, and lead technical discussions and design reviews.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering methods and share technical knowledge with junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Typically 5-8 years of experience in mechanical product development, preferably in complex electromechanical systems or industrial equipment.
• Experience taking products or subsystems from concept through validation and release into production.

• Mechanical design, product development and DFM/DFA
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
• CAD (PTC Creo preferred)
• HP AM & LF PLC
• Root cause analysis, experimental design and validation, engineering data analysis
• Experience with AI-assisted tools to improve productivity and documentation
