Operations Specialist - Performance Measurement AVP

About the role

DWS Group is hiring an Operations Specialist - Performance Measurement AVP in Madrid, within its COO Division's Global Reporting & Performance Measurement department. The team delivers performance calculations and multi-level attribution across equity, fixed income and multi-asset portfolios, and the successful candidate will contribute to the Smart Middle Office by applying automation, AI-enabled analytics and data-driven controls to improve calculation quality, analysis speed, exception management and transparency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily and monthly performance calculations and multi-level attribution, including Brinson, factor-based, equity and fixed income attribution
• Analyse and deliver monthly performance attribution with Portfolio Management and other stakeholders, explaining alpha generation, allocation and selection effects, factor contributions and risk-adjusted returns
• Partner with Portfolio Managers and Client Relationship Managers to explain performance results, investigate material movements and resolve data or methodology questions
• Drive improvements to performance and attribution methodologies, keeping them aligned with industry standards
• Ensure compliance with GIPS standards, internal policies and applicable requirements
• Maintain procedures, controls and documentation, and investigate calculation breaks, data-quality issues and attribution anomalies
• Contribute to the Smart Middle Office by turning performance measurement pain points into automation or AI use cases, working with Technology and transformation teams

Required profile

• Completed degree in finance, economics, mathematics, business administration or a comparable qualification
• At least five years of experience in performance measurement, attribution or a closely related asset management function
• Fluent written and spoken English; German is an advantage but not required

Required skills

• Strong practical knowledge of performance calculation and attribution methodologies; multi-asset experience is advantageous
• Good understanding of GIPS standards
• Broad understanding of asset management operations and the interaction between Investment, Client, Operations, Data and Technology functions
• Experience with Aladdin, State Street StatePro, FactSet or Bloomberg is a significant advantage
• Certifications such as CFA, CIPM or CA are advantageous
• Advanced analytical thinking, strong Excel skills; Python, data analytics, automation or AI tooling is advantageous
