Payments Team Lead
Leadtech · Barcelona
Job description
About the role
The Payments Team Lead owns the performance and service quality of Leadtech's payment ecosystem across two functions: a Revenue Optimization team focused on authorization rates and transaction profitability across PSPs and payment methods, and an Account Management team acting as the internal payments partner for the business units. The role combines technical leadership (data-driven AR improvement, PSP economics, APM evaluation) with internal stakeholder management.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and optimize payment performance and transaction profitability across PSPs and business units, analyzing authorization rates, decline reasons and traffic distribution.
- Support payment optimization initiatives such as 3DS, network tokens, retry logic, routing rules and data enrichment, and evaluate new APMs and PSP tools.
- Build dashboards and reports on AR, declines and PSP/MID performance.
- Own the payment strategy for each business unit, recommend PSP and APM mixes, and communicate performance, incidents and roadmap initiatives.
- Coordinate payment requirements for new MIDs, markets, PSPs and payment methods, and set up escalation processes.
- Lead and coach the Payments team, set priorities, define team objectives and report to the Payments & Risk Manager.
- Work with Risk & Compliance, product, engineering, finance and external partners on routing, chargebacks and APM initiatives.
Required profile
- 5-8 years of professional experience, with 4-5 years in payments, fintech, e-commerce or a related field.
- 2-3 years of people management or team leadership experience, with coaching and prioritization skills.
- Hands-on experience with PSPs and payment performance, ideally Stripe, Worldpay, Adyen or PayPal.
- Experience in a multi-PSP environment and with APMs.
- Excellent English and Spanish.
Required skills
- Analytical skills and understanding of authorization rates, decline analysis, routing, retries, 3DS, tokenization and data enrichment.
- Data and reporting tools such as Excel/Google Sheets and BI tools (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI).
- Nice to have: payment orchestration platforms, card-scheme chargeback monitoring, international markets.
What we offer
- Flexible schedule with flextime, full remote or Barcelona office, free Friday afternoons and a 35-hour week in July and August.
- Full-time permanent contract with competitive salary and benefits (health insurance, training).
- Personalized internal training and an annual budget for external learning.
