Pre-Sales Engineer

About the role

TOMRA Food, a multinational provider of sensor-based sorting, peeling and post-harvest solutions for the food industry, is looking for a Pre-Sales Engineer. The role combines technical expertise, application knowledge and solution design skills to help customers solve complex processing challenges. Working with customers and sales teams, you will act as a trusted technical advisor from product demonstrations and performance validation through system design and solution development.

Key responsibilities

• Support the consultative sales process as a technical and application expert.
• Analyse customer processes, production requirements and desired outcomes to develop tailored solutions.
• Prepare technical specifications, solution designs, performance analyses, quotations and supporting documentation.
• Design and evaluate processing systems, layouts and integrated solutions, including third-party equipment where required.
• Conduct product demonstrations, field trials, testing, validation and performance optimisation projects.
• Analyse processing performance, equipment utilisation and operational data to identify improvements.
• Provide technical guidance on equipment configuration and application performance.
• Deliver technical presentations, webinars, customer workshops and reference visits.
• Support Sales and Service teams with application training, troubleshooting and customer-facing technical support.
• Assess technical, operational and commercial requirements and recommend balanced solutions.
• Run design reviews with cross-functional teams and support project handover to implementation teams.
• Maintain solution documentation, standard specifications and application resources, monitor industry trends and share knowledge across the organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Automation or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in Agri-Tech, food processing, automation, material handling or equipment-related industries.
• Spanish and English proficiency.
• Experience supporting customers through sales, applications, service, technical support or solution development.
• Ability to analyse operational data, prepare technical documentation and present to customers.
• Valid work permit/visa where required, and ability to travel up to 30% within the EMEA region.
• Unrestricted driving licence.

Required skills

• CAD and design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks.
• System design, process evaluation and equipment integration.
• Structured problem-solving, multi-priority management and customer-focused communication.
