Primary Teacher

About the role

The English Montessori School, part of Cognita, a global network of 90 independent schools, is looking for an experienced primary teacher to join its team in Madrid (Aravaca). The role is permanent and full-time and is immediately available; priority goes to candidates who can start straight away or very short notice.

Key responsibilities

• Follow the Cognita Teaching Toolkit to deliver the primary curriculum to a high standard, maintaining high expectations.
• Use effective formative and summative assessment to track progress.
• Create a positive, purposeful learning climate and support students in meeting ambitious targets for behaviour, work and achievement.
• Deliver the school's strategic priorities: energised leadership, personalised learning and strong personal growth for every student.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and take part in the school's performance management system.
• Carry out routine duties such as break supervision, assemblies, meetings and parent events.
• Contribute to whole-school priorities and undertake reasonable tasks requested by the Headteacher or Principal.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• QTS or an international equivalent.
• Substantial teaching experience in a primary school setting.
• Fluency in English; Spanish is an advantage.
• Reflective, forward-thinking educator who works well in a collaborative team and can lead directly as well as influence and develop others.
