Production Operator – Conventional Lathe Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Production Operator to join our manufacturing floor, focusing on conventional lathe operations. The role involves handling horizontal and, when required, vertical lathe and milling machines to produce precision components.

Key responsibilities

• Operate conventional horizontal lathes and, when needed, vertical lathes or milling machines.
• Read and interpret machining plans, standards, and symbols.
• Define cutting conditions, select tools, and set up work sequences.
• Perform dimensional checks using calipers, micrometers and other measuring devices.
• Handle and position workpieces using overhead cranes.
• Follow manufacturing instructions, procedures and safety rules.

Required profile

• Upper secondary education with an electromechanical technical focus or equivalent experience.
• Solid knowledge of trigonometry and conventional machining.
• Flexibility to work in rotating 8‑hour shifts (6‑14, 14‑22, 22‑6).
• Strong team spirit and ability to adapt to production needs.

Required skills

• Conventional horizontal lathe operation.
• Vertical lathe and milling machine operation (asset).
• Reading machining plans and technical drawings.
• Defining cutting conditions and tool selection.
• Using measuring devices for dimensional verification.
• Overhead crane handling.
• Basic trigonometry applied to machining.
