Project Engineer - Wind & Solar Investments

About the role

Alcazar Energy is looking for a Project Engineer based in Madrid to support its investment and technical teams on wind and solar projects. The role covers wind resource assessment, site selection, technical and commercial analysis, due diligence and tender support, from early-stage screening to ready-to-build.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse meteorological data, perform energy yield calculations and use software such as WAsP, WindPRO, OpenWind or CFD models to optimise wind farm layouts.
• Support site selection and feasibility studies through wind measurement campaigns, GIS analysis and data validation.
• Provide technical input on wind resource potential, uncertainty analysis and energy production estimates to project developers, financiers and operators.
• Support the Investment Team on technical and commercial analysis of onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage, and prepare reports and presentations for the Investment Team or Investment Committee.
• Take part in technical due diligence and in the selection of OEMs and contractors, including clarifying contractor offers.
• Help prepare tender request documents and support discussions with OEMs and contractors.
• Assess technical components of investment opportunities and feed CAPEX, OPEX, yield, availability and construction period into financial model scenarios.
• Manage engineering service providers and consultants, perform site visits and help find new sites.

Required profile

• BSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; a postgraduate degree in Renewable Energy is desirable.
• Minimum 5 years of project engineering experience in wind or solar projects.
• Business-level fluency in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Software such as Microsoft Project, PVSyst, WinPro and AutoCAD.
• Wind resource assessment and energy yield calculations.
