Project Manager – Rail Projects

About the role

Hitachi Rail Espana is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Project Manager for a full-time position based in Madrid, Spain. The role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable handling tasks ranging from administrative to strategic. The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering projects on budget, on quality and on time, while meeting contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the project within contractual requirements, on budget, on quality and on time, ensuring customer satisfaction
• Ensure defined targets for costs, revenues, margin and cash in are achieved
• Maintain a single, direct managerial interface with the client
• Authorize changes affecting product costs, schedule and contractual obligations, and manage customer variation requests from offer preparation to negotiation
• Approve sub-contracts to key sub-suppliers before signature so they match the project budget, schedule and contracts
• Manage customer claims while improving RAMS performance
• Run quarterly project reports and meetings, including economic and financial progress reports from the Project Controller
• Approve and manage project communications with the customer and validate the invoicing plan

Required profile

• 10+ years of project management experience on rail industry projects and in multinational organisations
• 5+ years in rolling stock operation and maintenance, with a focus on High Speed Full Service projects
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to achieve new business opportunities
• Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and solve problems
• Excellent client-facing skills
• Proficiency in Spanish and English; Italian is a nice-to-have
