Protection & Control Systems Engineer (Grid Automation)

About the role

Gevernova is looking for a System Engineer for Protection & Control systems in grid automation, based in Zamudio. The engineer executes and implements protection and control system engineering activities under the technical guidance of the Technical Leader, with a common job description across CCS, DCS and consulting roles adapted to each project's scope and discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Execute assigned engineering activities for protection and control projects in line with the technical strategy defined by the Technical Leader.
• Develop discipline-specific deliverables such as SCADA screens, equipment integration, communication protocols, digital and analog signals, events, alarms, IED parameterization, signal treatment, databases and technical documentation.
• Contribute to master files, architecture inputs, document updates and technical deliverables, and prepare technical information for internal and customer documentation packages.
• Carry out test instructions and take part in pre-FAT, FAT and SAT activities under project technical governance.
• Help identify, analyse and correct technical issues during engineering, validation and delivery, and maintain traceability of engineering changes and deliverables.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing, field service and project stakeholders, and contribute to lessons learned, standardization and continuous improvement.
• Keep developing technical knowledge of protection and control systems, tools and project execution practices.

Required profile

• Degree in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, systems engineering or similar.
• Knowledge of protection and control, substation automation or related industrial/utility systems.
• Strong analytical skills, rigor and willingness to learn in a project environment; good command of English (other languages valued depending on the project).
• Availability to travel up to 30% as required by project, customer and business needs.
• Desired: experience in electrical control systems engineering for power generation facilities and design of protection and control systems for gas turbine-driven power plants.

Required skills

• Understanding of communication protocols, networks and system integration concepts.
• Programming knowledge is valued.
