QA Engineer – Test Automation (m/f/d)

About the role

We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our agile DevOps team and help deliver high‑quality web applications that support BASF Coatings services for internal and external users. You will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept to go‑live, with a strong focus on test automation and quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Define risk‑based test approaches and design automated testing solutions for functional, regression and integration scenarios.
• Build, maintain and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using modern QA tools.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product owners and designers to validate new features and improve testability.
• Document test plans, test cases, test results and quality metrics in a structured manner.
• Support quality gates and help the international QA team identify and resolve defects early.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance or test engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience creating test plans, test cases, test reports and defect documentation.
• Hands‑on experience with at least one automated testing framework such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or Cucumber/Gherkin.
• Experience testing web applications and APIs; exposure to cloud‑based environments is a plus.
