R&D Technician, Snacks or Meals

About the role

General Mills' international Snacks & Meals business is growing and needs two R&D Technicians to support the development and commercialization of innovation and renovation projects. The role provides benchtop support for developing new products and focuses on hands-on development and execution, while also helping maintain GMPs, 5S, food and people safety standards and handling general administrative tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop benchtop product prototypes of new and improved products in the pilot plant
• Support the commercialization of new products by running line trials and starting up new products and lines
• Work with ingredient suppliers to improve ingredient quality, define ingredient specifications and agree on analytical methods for characterization
• Build ingredient and finished product specifications and document them in the specifications systems
• Help implement, maintain and improve pilot plant GMPs, 5S methodology and food and people safety policies
• Handle administrative tasks such as documentation support, invoices, purchase orders, shipments and customs procedures

Required profile

• Higher vocational training in Food Industry or similar
• More than 1 year of experience in the food industry
• Experience in quality labs and R&D pilot plant or lab support (additional)
• Fluent English
• Own vehicle and availability to travel to the workplace

Required skills

• Ability to act quickly and accurately, with strong teamwork, flexibility and comfort with ambiguity
• Knowledge of ingredients and technologies used in meal products, product formulation and industrialization (developed in the role)
