Research Analyst – Science synthesis and capacity building

About the role

We are looking for a Research Analyst to join Climate Analytics’ Earth System Science and 1.5°C Overshoot Team. The role sits at the interface of climate science, policy and diplomacy, supporting the synthesis of scientific evidence and building capacity with partners in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least‑Developed Countries (LDCs).

Key responsibilities

• Translate complex physical climate science, impacts, adaptation, loss‑and‑damage and mitigation findings into clear, actionable insights for negotiators, policymakers and other stakeholder groups.
• Engage with SIDS and LDC representatives on high‑policy‑relevance climate science issues within the IPCC and UNFCCC processes.
• Develop and implement approaches that strengthen long‑term scientific capacity and foster expert networks across Climate Analytics teams and regional offices.
• Collaborate with the Climate Policy, Diplomacy and Implementation Strategies teams to ensure scientific outputs are aligned with policy needs.

Required profile

• Strong background in physical climate science and familiarity with impacts, adaptation, loss‑and‑damage and mitigation research.
• Understanding of climate policy processes, especially IPCC and UNFCCC frameworks.
• Experience working with international, diverse teams and with stakeholders from SIDS and LDCs.
• Excellent science communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
