Research Analyst – Science Synthesis and Capacity Building

About the role
Climate Analytics is seeking a Research Analyst to join its Earth System Science and 1.5°C Overshoot Team. The role sits at the intersection of climate science, policy and diplomacy, supporting the synthesis of scientific evidence and the development of capacity‑building initiatives for vulnerable nations.
Key responsibilities
- Translate complex physical climate science findings into clear, actionable insights for policymakers, negotiators and other stakeholder groups.
- Engage with partners from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least‑Developed Countries (LDCs) on high‑relevance climate science topics within the IPCC and UNFCCC processes.
- Develop and deliver scientific synthesis products that inform climate risk assessments, adaptation strategies and loss‑and‑damage analyses.
- Build and maintain expert networks, fostering long‑term capacity strengthening in target regions.
- Collaborate across Climate Analytics teams—including policy, diplomacy and implementation—to ensure scientific rigor and relevance.
Required profile
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in climate science, earth system science, environmental studies or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working on climate‑related research, preferably with exposure to IPCC or UNFCCC processes.
- Strong understanding of the links between physical climate science, mitigation pathways and policy needs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Required skills
- Proficiency in scientific literature review and synthesis.
- Familiarity with climate modeling outputs, climate scenarios and climate indices.
- Experience in capacity‑building activities or stakeholder engagement in SIDS/LDC contexts.
