Research Manager

About the role

LCI Barcelona, the European hub of the LCI Education network, is seeking a Research Manager to lead and coordinate its research activities. The role ensures compliance with accreditation standards, drives scientific output, and manages research projects and funding calls.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the institution’s strategic research plan aligned with academic and accreditation goals.
• Identify, prepare, and submit national, European and international funding calls relevant to the school’s research lines.
• Coordinate technical‑financial justification of research projects and oversee budget management with finance.
• Track faculty scientific output (publications, conferences, patents, theses) and maintain the research database.
• Support faculty in applications for research bonuses, accreditations and evaluation processes.
• Manage research ethics committees, ensuring compliance with IP, data protection and scientific integrity.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with universities, research centres, companies and public bodies.
• Prepare periodic monitoring reports and the annual research report for management and accreditation bodies.
• Organise scientific outreach activities such as conferences, seminars and workshops.
• Represent LCI Barcelona in research networks and consortia.

Required profile

• University degree; Master’s or PhD preferred, preferably in academic management, research, business administration or related fields.
• 3‑5 years of experience in research management within a university or higher‑education setting.
• Proven track record managing competitive funding calls (e.g., Horizon Europe, national ministries, AGAUR).
• Knowledge of the Spanish and Catalan university systems and accreditation processes (AQU Catalunya, ANECA).
• Native or advanced Spanish and Catalan, and advanced English (C1) for international proposals.

• Experience with research ethics, intellectual property and data‑protection regulations.
• Ability to manage project budgets and financial reporting.
