RFID Electronics Engineer

About the role

Sensormatic Solutions, a division of Johnson Controls, is hiring an RFID Electronics Engineer to ensure that RFID tag solutions perform reliably in real-world retail applications. The engineer plans and runs validation tests, analyzes RF performance and supports new product development within the RFID Innovation Center, working with internal teams, suppliers and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct RF performance measurements, characterization and benchmarking of RFID tags and related technologies.
• Simulate and evaluate RFID use cases in distribution centers and retail stores, including receiving, shipping, inventory counting, self-checkout and loss prevention.
• Assess tag performance on different materials, merchandise categories, placements and orientations to find optimal implementation strategies.
• Test and validate RFID printer and encoder compatibility, processability and operational reliability.
• Plan, run and document laboratory and field test campaigns, then analyze test data with statistical tools to spot trends, improvements and root causes of issues.
• Support new product development from concept validation to market introduction, and take part in evaluating new RFID technologies and equipment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers and customers to resolve technical issues, support product qualification and manage claims.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of product performance, testing methods and processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (Telecommunications, Electronics, RF/Microwave Engineering, Automation, Computer Science or similar).
• Understanding of product development and industrialization processes, from concept validation to implementation.
• Experience using statistical methods and data analysis tools to interpret test results.
• Strong written and spoken English and ability to work in cross-functional, international teams.
