Scaled Accounts Director – Openbank Pay

About the role

Openbank Pay, the new checkout lending platform of the Santander Group, is looking for a Scaled Accounts Director to lead its Long Tail segment across Europe. You will own the full P&L of a portfolio of small and mid‑sized merchants, building a standardized, automation‑driven operating model that drives profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Full P&L ownership for the Long Tail segment, monitoring volumes, conversion, risk and cost metrics.
• Design and implement a scalable, repeatable merchant management model that reduces operational friction.
• Oversee acquisition, activation and performance optimisation of small merchants through direct channels and partnerships.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams (Product, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Finance) to ensure regulatory compliance and operational readiness.
• Identify new verticals and geographies to diversify the merchant base and reduce dependency on large accounts.

Required profile

• 10+ years of commercial leadership experience in fintech, payments or e‑commerce.
• Proven track record of managing scalable merchant portfolios and owning P&L.
• Strong analytical and performance‑management skills.
• Fluent English; Spanish is a plus.
