Senior Architect

About the role

AECOM Buildings + Places is looking for a Senior Architect to join its Architecture & Design team in Madrid. You will work on iconic and complex projects across Spain and internationally, from concept to completion, with architects, engineers, urban designers and sustainability experts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural project development from concept through construction, ensuring technical coherence, buildability and cost control.
• Develop and oversee detailed design packages, specifications and construction documentation.
• Coordinate structural, MEP, sustainability and specialist consultants to deliver integrated solutions.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations and technical standards, and review project documentation for accuracy and consistency.
• Align technical decisions with budget parameters and propose solutions that improve efficiency, sustainability and value.
• Evaluate and integrate advanced systems, materials and technologies, and liaise with manufacturers and suppliers.
• Conduct internal technical reviews and quality assurance, apply sustainable principles, and take part in design critiques, presentations and client meetings.

Required profile

• Degree in Architecture or Technical Architecture with 10-15 years of professional experience.
• Proven experience delivering projects for or in Spain, with knowledge of Spanish building regulations (CTE, LOE, EHE).
• Experience in construction phase supervision, including site visits and issue resolution.
• Strong design and graphic skills.
• English proficiency is required.
• Portfolio submission is mandatory along with the CV.

• BIM-based environments and software such as Revit and AutoCAD.
• Collaborative platforms.
• Development of construction details and technical solutions for complex projects.
