Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Fundcraft is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems for its platform. The role reports directly to the Lead Backend Engineer and is based in Spain. It involves close collaboration with frontend engineers and product managers, with a focus on hands-on development, reliability, security and maintainability.

Key responsibilities

• Implement scalable, high-performance features and service integrations in a high-demand system, ensuring reliability and a seamless user experience.
• Develop, implement and maintain end-to-end solutions using Python, Django, DRF, FastAPI, Docker and AWS Cloud.
• Use AI coding assistants such as Cursor and Claude Code to write code.
• Write automated unit and integration tests to validate backend functionality.
• Maintain documentation of backend systems, APIs and processes.
• Share technical insights and best practices, and mentor junior and other senior backend engineers.
• Work with DevOps engineers, product managers and other stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet business and user needs.
• Keep colleagues informed about project status, challenges and progress.

Required profile

• Ability to develop scalable, high-performance backend systems aligned with business objectives.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams and optimisation of APIs for performance, scalability and security.
• Participation in code reviews and adherence to software development best practices.
• Willingness to mentor mid and junior engineers.
