Senior Backend Engineer - Structured Data

About the role

RavenPack, a big data analytics provider for financial services with 20 years of experience, is launching a new suite of GenAI and SaaS services for financial professionals. It is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to help build AI agentic workflows and data-driven solutions. The role involves designing, building and deploying scalable, high-performance systems and working closely with Data Scientists, Product Managers and other engineers. European legal working status is required.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, develop and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems.
• Design and implement high-throughput ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and semi-structured data.
• Automate complex data and application lifecycles with tools such as Apache Airflow or AWS Step Functions.
• Build and maintain high-concurrency REST and MCP (Model Context Protocol) APIs.
• Design and deploy AWS infrastructure using Serverless (Lambda) and containerized (Docker/ECS) technologies.
• Enforce clean, maintainable code with testing, version control and performance tuning.
• Implement and manage a full-stack observability suite (e.g. Datadog).

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (Ph.D. preferred but not required).
• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong communication skills, able to collaborate across teams and explain complex ideas in English, verbal and written.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• REST API development.
• Familiarity with relational databases (Postgres, Oracle), NoSQL (DynamoDB), time-series databases and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake).
• Proven experience building and scaling production ETL/ELT pipelines and hands-on AWS (S3, Lambda).
• Scripting with Bash, containerization with Docker, and Git.
• Desirable: MCP APIs, serverless architectures (AWS Lambda with API Gateway).
