Senior Claims Adjuster - Financial Lines

About the role

AIG is looking for a Financial Lines Senior Claims Adjuster in Madrid to join its Claims team, described as a world-class function. The role focuses on Financial Lines business and covers a portfolio of high-value, complex claims, from coverage inquiry through legal liability assessment and quantum analysis to timely and accurate resolution. As a senior member of the team, you will act as deputy to the Team Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Resolve claims quickly and accurately, minimising indemnity exposure and vendor and legal expenses, and promoting the principle of treating customers fairly.
• Act as deputy to the Team Manager and provide training and serve as a technical referral point for colleagues.
• Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders as the team's technical claims expert and thought leader.
• Support Quality Assurance / Regional Audit processes and contribute to continuous improvement in Claims.
• Assist with technical training of claim handlers as required.

Required profile

• Strong experience and knowledge as a specialist in Financial Lines technical claims.
• Law degree preferred.
• Fluent in English.
• Track record of following up audit recommendations and handling files continuously.
• Ability to influence claims and non-claims stakeholders on claims strategy.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of legal, regulatory and litigation/procedural requirements for Financial Lines.
• Stakeholder management with underwriting, distribution, actuarial, finance and executives, as well as brokers and major account clients.
• Negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR skills on higher-value complex claims.
• Precise interpretation of policy wording and good time management.
