Senior Data Strategy & Operations Lead

About the role

As the operational backbone of Preply’s Data & Applied AI team, you will partner directly with the VP to drive planning cadences, cross‑functional alignment and execution of high‑impact data and AI initiatives. This individual‑contributor role is focused on ensuring the team works efficiently, transparently and with momentum.

Key responsibilities

• Own and run the operational rhythm: team syncs, roadmap reviews, OKR cycles, quarterly planning and retrospectives.
• Serve as the connective tissue between Data & Applied AI and Product, Engineering, Commercial and other functions, keeping priorities aligned and dependencies visible.
• Track progress on key data and AI projects end‑to‑end, identify risks early and drive resolution while supporting the VP’s portfolio management.
• Identify friction in processes, tooling or collaboration patterns and design practical improvements to scale the team’s efficiency.
• Lead or support strategic initiatives such as evolving the operating model, defining AI adoption frameworks or evaluating build‑vs‑buy decisions for data infrastructure.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in strategy, operations or planning within a high‑growth tech environment.
• Hands‑on experience working closely with data, analytics or AI/ML teams and a solid technical familiarity with data pipelines, ML models and experimentation frameworks.
• Proven track record running operating cadences (OKRs, roadmap reviews) and driving cross‑functional alignment.
• Strong program and project leadership, stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
• Highly data‑driven mindset with the ability to build models, spreadsheets and dashboards to inform decisions.
