Senior Drainage Engineer - Linear Infrastructure

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Senior Drainage Engineer within its Transportation team, based in Madrid. The role contributes to major infrastructure projects through hydraulic engineering and drainage design, taking an active part in key design activities and supporting the project throughout its lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the design of drainage systems for highways, railways, airports and other infrastructure projects, ensuring technical quality.
• Review and validate hydrological and hydraulic studies prepared by project teams.
• Coordinate and supervise hydraulic modelling with specialised software tools and modelling packages.
• Manage collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in international settings.
• Review and approve technical documentation in Spanish and English, ensuring compliance with quality standards and project requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior professionals and design teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Civil Engineering; Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• More than 7 years of experience designing and delivering linear infrastructure projects such as highways, railways and transportation corridors.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Required skills

• Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads / OpenRail.
• Knowledge of GIS platforms, including ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Experience with HEC-RAS and Infoworks for hydraulic and flood modelling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
