Senior Engineering Coordinator

About the role

Group IPS is looking for a Senior Engineering Coordinator in Barcelona. The role is primarily a technical coordination and project-level engineering governance position: you must have enough engineering experience to understand interactions between disciplines, spot inconsistencies and interfaces, challenge Discipline Leads when needed and know when specialist expertise is required.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate multiple engineering disciplines such as process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and automation, civil/structural, HVAC and architecture.
• Manage technical interfaces and battery limits between disciplines or packages.
• Coordinate engineering deliverable lists and engineering schedules.
• Organise or take part in design reviews and interdisciplinary reviews.
• Coordinate layouts and/or 3D/BIM models and resolve clashes and interfaces (a plus).
• Manage vendor information and integrate vendor packages into the overall design.
• Manage technical queries, scope changes and their multidisciplinary impacts.
• Work with Procurement, construction and/or commissioning, and coordinate internal resources, external engineering companies, design offices and suppliers.

Required profile

• University degree in engineering, preferably a Master's degree.
• At least 8 years of professional engineering experience on multidisciplinary industrial projects; ideally 3 years in a coordination or lead engineering role.
• Experience managing discipline engineers and within an EPCM/EPC company or engineering consultancy/design office.
• Minimum 3 years in Life Sciences and Food Industries.
• Covers several phases: concept, basic design, detailed design, and ideally procurement and construction support.
• Demonstrated experience with multiple engineering disciplines and at least 10 people managed.
