Senior Full Stack Engineer - Observability APM UI
Elastic
Job description
About the role
Elastic is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its APM UI team, which shapes and enhances the user interface of its observability platform. You will work on Kibana and the UI components that help application developers and engineers interpret observability data such as the service map and trace waterfall, in a team of engineers and designers.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement intuitive UI components with TypeScript, React and Node.js, integrating them with back-end services
- Run usability testing and gather user feedback to drive continuous improvement
- Own complex, loosely defined problems end-to-end, from shaping the approach to delivering the solution
- Lead discussions on architecture and system design, considering trade-offs, backwards compatibility, performance and scale
- Set coding standards, promote reusable components, implement automated testing and deployment, and evaluate new technologies
- Review code thoroughly, give constructive feedback and look for security vulnerabilities
- Work asynchronously with a distributed team on GitHub and Slack
- Partner with designers and product managers to turn mockups into functional UI components and keep the visual design consistent
Required profile
- Solid production experience with full-stack JavaScript, preferably TypeScript, with React on the front end and Node.js on the back end
- Track record of leading non-trivial projects end-to-end with real design ownership and minimal guidance
- Experience designing and launching multiple UI components that increased user commitment
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication, enjoyment of async collaboration, and a user-focused mindset
Required skills
- TypeScript, React and Node.js
- Some Reactflow experience is a plus
- Bonus points: Elastic stack, Open Telemetry, observability tooling, Go, Kubernetes, large data-heavy interfaces (search, filtering, tables, streaming data), open-source experience, mentoring or leading a small team
What we offer
- Base salary of EUR 67,000 to 106,000, with no variable component
- Flexible locations and schedules, generous vacation days and parental leave of at least 16 weeks
- Health coverage for you and your family in many locations
- Matching of up to $2,000 for donations and up to 40 hours per year for volunteering
