Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

AECOM, within its Domestic Transportation business area, is hiring a highly skilled and motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Madrid to join its Ground Engineering team. The engineer will work on a variety of projects, including high-profile international and local ones, and collaborate with experts from around the world.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and organise geotechnical work for team members and guide them through complex tasks.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, if needed.
• Promote geotechnical investigations and assessments, including geotechnical characterisation and analysis.
• Develop geotechnical designs (calculations and detailed drawings) for excavations, retaining structures, earthworks, deep and shallow foundations, stability and settlement analysis.
• Apply experience in soil improvement and seismic design.
• Apply experience in offshore geotechnical design.
• Take part in the tender process from the geotechnical perspective.
• Collaborate with teams across different geographies to deliver results.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering or Mining Engineering; other geotechnical masters are highly appreciated.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Advanced knowledge of Spanish and English (reading, writing and speaking); other languages are highly valued.

Required skills

• Advanced use of geotechnical software such as PLAXIS 2D/3D, ROCSCIENCE or GEO5.
