Senior Project Manager – R&D New Powertrain Projects

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of new powertrain development projects within our R&D New Projects team. Based in Madrid, you will work in a dynamic, international environment, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and external partners to bring innovative hybrid and combustion solutions to market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of new powertrain development projects, ensuring Quality, Cost and Timing (QCT/QCD) objectives are met.
• Support business development activities and act as the engineering interface with new customers.
• Manage project quotations, feasibility assessments and technical/economic scoping.
• Coordinate cross‑functional stakeholders and drive project convergence across all functions.
• Lead and develop Project Leaders, providing direction and governance.
• Monitor project risks, opportunities, budgets, investments and supplier performance.
• Ensure achievement of project milestones, regulatory compliance and product safety requirements.
• Drive innovation initiatives, technology roadmaps and collaboration with suppliers, universities, start‑ups and research partners.

Required profile

• Proven track record in powertrain development and automotive project management, including leadership of complex new product development programs.
• Outstanding stakeholder management, negotiation and team‑leading skills, with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly.
• Strong competencies in risk and opportunity management and project governance, with a collaborative approach.
• Knowledge of the automotive sector and a commitment to transforming the industry.
• Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages such as Chinese, Spanish or French are valued.
• Willingness to travel regularly to China.
