Senior QA Automation Engineer

About the role

DKB Code Factory is looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer in Valencia. The role takes a leading part in shaping the quality strategy within the team and improving testing practices across the engineering organization. It acts as a trusted quality partner for developers, product stakeholders and colleagues, helping them decide on quality, risk and release readiness, and drives scalable automation and a culture where quality is a shared responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the team's quality and testing strategy, aligned with product risks, architecture and delivery goals.
• Act as the team's go-to expert for quality engineering, guiding testing approaches, testability, automation and quality-related technical decisions.
• Design and evolve scalable test automation for component, integration, contract, API and end-to-end testing, with a focus on backend systems and APIs.
• Ensure test readiness across environments, infrastructure, test data, mocking, service virtualization and system dependencies.
• Work with developers and product stakeholders to identify risks, clarify requirements, improve testability and prevent defects early.
• Analyze complex test failures and production defects, support root-cause analysis and use quality metrics to support release decisions.
• Drive continuous testing and quality engineering practices in CI/CD, and mentor engineers and share testing patterns.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of testing principles, test design techniques, risk-based testing and modern quality engineering practices.
• Proven experience designing and maintaining automation for backend systems and APIs (component, integration, contract, API and end-to-end).
• Solid programming experience with Java, Kotlin or comparable technologies, using good software engineering practices.
• Experience testing distributed or service-based systems, including dependencies, asynchronous processes and failure scenarios.
• Collaborative and pragmatic, with experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions; openness to developing skills in mobile QA.
• Fluent English.
