Senior RTO Consultant

About the role

AVEVA is seeking a Senior RTO Consultant to lead the implementation and optimisation of Real‑Time Optimisation (RTO) solutions for ethylene and steam cracker plants. You will work on cutting‑edge process optimisation software, helping customers improve efficiency, safety and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, commission and maintain AVEVA Process Optimisation (APO) RTO closed‑loop applications for ethylene/steam cracker facilities.
• Develop, validate and maintain detailed process models covering furnaces, heat exchangers, quench systems, compression trains, acid gas removal, drying, refrigeration and product separation.
• Configure and troubleshoot online model execution, including data acquisition, validation, parameter estimation and optimisation sequencing.
• Create and maintain economic optimisation cases that consider feed costs, product values, utilities, equipment constraints and plant operating limits.
• Integrate APO with plant APC/DCS systems to automatically transfer optimised set‑points while respecting safety constraints.
• Collaborate with Operations, Process Engineering, APC, Planning and Optimisation teams to identify opportunities and translate them into sustainable closed‑loop strategies.
• Analyse RTO outcomes, monitor performance, track benefits and resolve issues such as model mismatches, data quality problems or equipment changes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with ethylene cracker processes and real‑time optimisation projects.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain complex process models and economic optimisation cases.
• Strong analytical skills to diagnose performance issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work with cross‑functional plant teams.
