Software Development Engineer – Mobile/React Native

About the role

Join the Amazon Kids team in Madrid and help build safe, fun digital experiences for children and their parents. As a Software Development Engineer you will design, develop, and maintain cross‑platform mobile applications using React Native and Java, delivering high‑quality features that empower parental controls and enrich kids’ content.

Key responsibilities

• Define the structure and strategic goals for the new organization.
• Collaborate with managers, product owners, and leadership to clarify requirements and design solutions.
• Solve complex software problems across Android, iOS, and FireOS platforms.
• Identify trade‑offs, raise escalations when needed, and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor new teammates and help raise the team’s engineering standards.
• Own long‑term product quality, operational excellence, and participate in on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Professional experience in software development (non‑internship).
• Proven ability to design or architect scalable, reliable systems.
• Experience influencing team culture and hiring/developing engineers.
