Software Engineering Manager - Global UX - Applications - Platform

About the role

Elastic is looking for a Software Engineering Manager for its Global UX team, which owns Elastic UI (EUI), the company's design system and React component library, as well as the shared patterns, tokens and tools that keep Elastic products consistent, accessible and high quality. The manager works closely with the Tech Lead, who handles technical direction and architecture, and oversees people, roadmap and delivery. Experience leading design system or platform teams is sought.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow the team of engineers building and maintaining Elastic UI and other shared design system infrastructure.
• Own the delivery cadence: sprint planning, quarterly roadmap, outcomes and status reporting to stakeholders.
• Handle hiring, onboarding, performance management and career growth for engineers.
• Build team culture and health in a fully distributed, async-first environment.
• Represent Global UX in cross-functional planning with engineering, design and product leadership.
• Remove blockers by negotiating dependencies, addressing friction and escalating risks early.
• Track adoption and health metrics of the design system and use them to set roadmap priorities.
• Work with teams that consume the design system and support experiments with AI-assisted design-to-code workflows.

Required profile

• Experience managing engineering teams that build and maintain design systems, component libraries or similar shared UI/platform infrastructure.
• Experience running delivery cadence for a team serving many internal stakeholders.
• Experience hiring, developing and retaining engineers, with a track record of growing people into senior roles.
• Strong stakeholder management and written and verbal communication skills, in a distributed, async-first setting.
• Comfortable balancing platform investment against urgent feature requests from consuming teams.

Required skills

• Frontend engineering knowledge (React, TypeScript, component architecture) enough to make credible technical trade-offs with the Tech Lead.
• Use of adoption metrics (usage, satisfaction, migration progress) to inform roadmap decisions.
