Solutions Architect Spain

About the role

Databricks is looking for a Solutions Architect based in the Madrid region, within commuting distance for a hybrid schedule. You will lead the technical strategy for your customers, own architecture discussions, drive platform adoption and act as a trusted advisor to customer technical leads and architects. You will develop a technical specialization (archetype) and be recognised within your team for depth in a specific domain.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end technical strategy for your accounts, from discovery through production deployment and consumption growth
• Lead complex architecture discussions covering data engineering, ML/AI and real-time analytics
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customer architects, engineering leads and Directors
• Win competitive scenarios by showing Databricks' differentiation through custom-built solutions
• Develop and declare an emerging technical specialization, becoming a go-to resource for your team
• Orchestrate DSAs, SSAs and partners to deliver comprehensive solutions for complex customer needs
• Influence product direction with structured feedback on customer requirements and competitive gaps

Required profile

• 6+ years in solutions architecture, data engineering, technical pre-sales or a senior hands-on technical role
• Proven ability to lead architecture discussions with senior technical stakeholders (whiteboarding, design reviews, trade-off analysis)
• Track record of driving platform adoption and consumption growth
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a quantitative discipline (or equivalent experience)
• Fluency in Spanish and English

Required skills

• Strong coding in Python and SQL, with live coding, debugging and solution-building
• Deep knowledge of distributed data systems: scalable pipelines, streaming architectures, lakehouse patterns and cloud-native data platforms
• Proficiency on the Databricks platform (or rapid ability to become proficient), with a developing specialization in one area (e.g. streaming, ML/AI, data governance, migrations)
• Production deployments on public cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP), including infrastructure, security and governance
• Excellent communication, translating complex architectures into business value for technical and executive audiences

Nice to have: Databricks certifications (Data Engineer, ML, Platform); experience with Snowflake, AWS native services or Azure Synapse; background in a data/AI company or cloud provider; industry domain expertise (financial services, healthcare, retail, media).
