Spanish and Catalan Primary Teacher

About the role

The British School of Barcelona (BSB), part of Cognita, is recruiting a Primary Language Teacher (Spanish and Catalan) for its BSB City Campus, starting in January 2027. The school is an HMC institution following the English National Curriculum, with over 2,350 students and 375 staff across several Barcelona-area locations. The successful candidate will deliver structured, progressive language lessons and work collaboratively across the Primary phase.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Spanish and Catalan lessons across the Primary phase, modelling outstanding practice.
• Track pupil progress using formative assessment strategies, informed by data and observation, across speaking, listening, reading and writing.
• Apply language acquisition pedagogy, including phonics, pronunciation, vocabulary development and oracy.
• Help develop a coherent, progressive Spanish and Catalan curriculum across the primary years.
• Give clear feedback and communicate with parents about pupils' strengths, progress and next steps.
• Embed language learning where appropriate across the wider curriculum and support cover capacity when needed.
• Take part in the school's performance management programme and help implement school improvement priorities in language provision.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education (Primary Education / Magisterio).
• C1 level certificate in Catalan.
• Relevant qualifications and appropriate experience are essential.
• Commitment to the wider life of the school.
