Supervisor, Technical Training

About the role

Edwards Lifesciences, a global structural heart innovation company, is looking for a Supervisor, Technical Training. The role supervises a team of employees carrying out technical training activities, including trainers, trainees and training materials, and works closely with engineering, quality and other functions. The position operates on a rotating shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise trainers, employees and training activities, including managing training materials and inventory
• Assist with delivery and collection of productivity, quality and training metrics, and report progress and metrics to management and stakeholders
• Oversee and coach the daily execution of trainer methods and tools
• Plan, develop and schedule screening, work trial and training activities (e.g. training room set-up) according to the Master Product Schedule and New Product Introduction needs
• Give feedback and run performance reviews of trainers and trainees, including resolving performance issues
• Take part in improvement projects, partner with engineering on investigations and corrective actions, and investigate non-conformances
• Prepare training records to ensure audit compliance
• Represent the organization to vendors, suppliers, contractors and staffing agencies, and take part in cross-functional teams

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, 1 year of related experience, or 9 years of product assembly experience including training assemblers on valve assembly
• OR a Technical Diploma with 3 years of supervisory experience
• OR Associate's degree or equivalent with 3 years of supervisory experience
• Experience in the medical device industry and in multi-cultural teams
• Full responsibility for personnel, including hire/fire authority and employee relations

Required skills

• Microsoft Office Suite and ERP, preferably JDE
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
• Manufacturing procedures, clean-room medical device manufacturing guidelines, and environmental health and safety rules
• Ability to lead teams, coach and give feedback in a fast-paced environment
