Systems Analyst – Insurance Technology Platforms
davies · Home Spain
Job description
About the role
Davies is looking for a technically minded Systems Analyst to support the design, delivery, integration and ongoing operation of its insurance technology platforms. The role sits at the intersection of business processes and technology: learning the platforms and workflows, translating business needs into system requirements, supporting solution design and testing, and troubleshooting application and data issues. It is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys investigating how systems work and why things go wrong; a solution architect or software engineer is not required.
The position primarily supports second-shift operations from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, overlapping with daytime delivery teams and evening production operations. The salary range is 35,000 to 50,000 euros per year.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse insurance workflows (underwriting, policy lifecycle, billing, claims, servicing) and turn business needs into system requirements, data requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Document requirements, business rules, interfaces, data mappings and solution decisions, and keep traceability between requirements, changes, testing and delivered functionality.
- Help design practical solutions on insurance and low-code platforms, review proposed and implemented changes, and support engineering teams with requirements questions.
- Take part in functional testing, solution validation, deployment readiness and post-production verification.
- Analyse data flows, investigate data-quality issues and ETL/export failures, use SQL to find discrepancies, and support integrations with external partners (MGAs, TPAs, reinsurers).
- Support production incident analysis: integration/API failures, batch-processing failures, concurrent-update conflicts, data discrepancies, performance issues and system errors, gathering logs and performing root-cause analysis.
- Document non-functional requirements (performance, availability, scalability, resilience), support performance and stress testing, and monitor application behaviour.
- Use scripting and lightweight automation for data-quality checks, compliance validation, log analysis, uptime reporting and repetitive support tasks.
Required profile
- 3+ years of experience as a Systems Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Application Support Analyst or in a similar technical role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to communicate with technical and business stakeholders and to work with production systems using proper controls.
- Ability to work the second shift, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience using data to investigate application or business issues.
- Basic understanding of APIs, system integrations or data interfaces.
- Familiarity with ETL processes, data pipelines, data mappings or similar data concepts.
- Experience troubleshooting application, system, integration or data issues.
- Preferred: insurance industry experience, low-code platforms, Python or another scripting language, MongoDB, Fivetran, Graylog, Splunk or ELK, API investigation, load/stress testing, and production support of business-critical applications.
