Underwriting Assistant (German Speaker)

About the role

AIG is looking for an Underwriting Assistant based in Madrid, within its Underwriting Operations team. The role supports Underwriters on new or existing classes of business, delivering accurate risk, record keeping and reporting, and works with teams such as Property, Casualty, Energy, Marine, Aviation, Financial Lines and A&H.

Key responsibilities

• Summarise slip terms and conditions, calculate premiums and exposures, and enter submissions, quotes, risks, endorsements and transactions accurately.
• Perform data checks to ensure underwriting data is accurate in the systems.
• Store risk information and correspondence in the document repository to maintain a complete audit trail.
• Ensure underwriting information is included in peer review, risk entry and data checking reviews within the set timeframes, and index electronic submissions.
• Maintain tools supporting compliance, sanctions, fraud and financial crime checks before and after binding.
• Assist underwriters with the underwriting process, management information, business development and marketing.
• Provide administrative support in credit control, data quality and training, and support other underwriting classes when needed.

Required profile

• Strong relevant experience in an underwriting support role.
• Ability to deal with external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of underwriting, claims and facultative reinsurance processes.
• Experience supervising the accuracy of an offshore service partner.
• English (written and oral) and German required.
• Potential to lead teams; demonstrated experience preferred.
