VP Group Legal – Relocation to Malta

About the role

The VP Group Legal will lead the legal function of a long‑established international aviation group. Based in Malta, this senior position reports directly to the executive leadership team and combines strategic oversight with hands‑on management of complex cross‑border legal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the in‑house legal team across multiple jurisdictions.
• Design and implement legal strategies aligned with the group’s business objectives.
• Advise senior executives on corporate, commercial, regulatory and risk issues.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and industry standards worldwide.
• Draft, negotiate and review high‑value international contracts, joint ventures and partnerships.
• Establish, restructure and govern corporate entities locally and internationally.
• Support acquisitions, divestments and ownership structure changes.
• Manage dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration and settlements, coordinating with external counsel.
• Oversee contract management processes and develop standard templates.
• Develop and enforce policies to meet legal, regulatory and sanctions compliance.

Required profile

• Law degree (LL.B, J.D. or equivalent) with advanced qualifications preferred.
• Significant experience in General Counsel, Chief Legal Counsel or equivalent roles within an international setting.
• Proven track record managing in‑house legal teams across multiple countries.
• Deep expertise in corporate law, international contracts and complex commercial agreements.
• Strong strategic, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with senior leadership.
