Alignment Engineer – Marine Propulsion Systems

About the role

Wärtsilä Shaft Line Repair Services (SLRS) is seeking an Alignment Engineer to support the performance of vessel propulsion systems worldwide. The role involves on‑site alignment measurements, troubleshooting, and collaboration with customers, shipyards and internal teams, with extensive global travel and flexible work options in Spain.

Key responsibilities

• Perform precise alignment measurements on shaft line systems using laser, jack load, run‑out and strain‑gauge techniques.
• Analyse measurement data and implement corrective adjustments.
• Supervise machining and repair processes to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
• Participate in commissioning of new builds and repaired installations globally.
• Attend daily repair meetings with customers, shipyards and contractors.
• Maintain clear communication with head office and produce detailed service reports.
• Ensure safety and environmental regulations are followed on‑site.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
