Autonomous Engineer

About the role

Voltrac is developing an autonomous electric tractor to boost Europe’s food security and defence. As an Autonomous Engineer you will join a small, high‑ownership team to create the core autonomy stack that drives the tractor in vineyards, olive orchards and citrus groves.

Key responsibilities

• Design, select, train and iterate on algorithms and machine‑learning models for autonomous navigation.
• Develop and run testing campaigns in both virtual simulations and real field environments.
• Define verification and safety criteria and implement them in the autonomy stack.
• Own deployment processes, monitoring, and user communication for new tractor models.
• Work on data ingestion pipelines when relevant to the autonomy workflow.

Required profile

• Strong, hands‑on coding ability with solid software‑engineering fundamentals.
• Awareness of state‑of‑the‑art autonomy techniques such as A* planning and transformer‑based approaches.
• Ability to work autonomously in a skunkworks‑style team and take end‑to‑end ownership.
